Replication when bringing a Windows Server 2003 into a Windows 2000 AD

I'm going through all the steps to bring a Windows Server 2003 as a domain
controller into a current Windows 2000 active directory. Our plan is to
demote the Windows 2000 domain controller after that and raise the
functional level to a native Windows 2003 active directory.

Can anyone tell me if any files at all gets transfer from replication from
the Windows 2000 domain controller to the Windows 2003 domain controller? I
am not worried about files that will be created in SYSVOL or NTDS during the
replication. I want to find out if any other dll, exe, or other files gets
replicated.

Thanks.

Redbox,

You would need to 'prep' the WIN2000 AD for the introduction of a WIN2003
DC. I am sure that you are aware of this and have done it already.

However, I am not sure that I understand your question. During the
replication between DCs the 'usual suspects' replicate: the changed
attributes of any accounts, for example. If this is what you mean, then
'YES'. These, naturally, are part of the three naming contexts: the Domain
NC, the Configuration NC and the Schema NC .

Now, if you mean that there are user documents on the WIN2000 DC get
replicated over to the WIN2003 Server ( if that WIN2000 DC was acting as a
File Server ) then "NO".

Please note that I have not really looked at WIN2003 yet, so take this with
for what it is worth.

HTH,

Cary
