I'm learning about replication and want to do some testing. I'm trying to
replicate a copy of a back-end file (i.e. tables only). When I open the back-
end file and click on 'Tools', the 'Replication' menu item is grayed out.
I've been following MS Help on how to do this, so why?

Thanks.

I don't know. Some questions:

1. what version of Access?

2. do you have exclusive access to the file you're trying to
replicate? That doesn't seem to make a difference in my tests, but
I'd expect it too (you can't very well convert an MDB to a Design
Master if someone else has it open -- yes, it prohibits it after the
Create Replica command is issued, but does not disable the
Replication menu choice).

3. Did you do a full install of Access? Perhaps there are components
that you needed to install? I can't think what, but it's a
possibility.
