Replacing field names

I need to change the names of some of my fields in a table. How do I apply
these changes to all my querries, forms, reports etc.. Do I have to go and
change each one at a time or is there a way to replace the changed names in
all the querries etc..

Thank you

Hi Dan,

Here are three utilities that you can use:

Find and Replace Utilities
Find & Replace: http://www.rickworld.com/products.html
Speed Ferret: http://www.moshannon.com/speedferret.html
Ucora: http://www3.bc.sympatico.ca/starthere/findandreplace/

I only have experience using SpeedFerret, which is not free, but a very good
product. It will find all occurances of field names, including VBA code. I
think, but I'm not sure, that one of the other two utilities might be free.

Find & Replace isn't free, but it's a fair bit cheaper than Speed Ferret.

I haven't used the Ucora utility, but I have used Find & Replace extensively
(albeit back in my Access 2.0 days). I liked it very much. And much as I
hate to admit it, I've never been able to figure out how to get Speed Ferret
to work properly for me!

Unfortunately, Smart Access won't be carrying my articles anymore. The
magazine has been sold to Eli Journals (who bought the Element K journals
last year). My understanding is that Eli Journals intends to keep the title
going, but they plan on using it to "repurpose" material (by which I think
they mean to re-publish material published elsewhere). The April issue will
be the last one from the old regime.

Hi Doug,

It looks like the Ucora utility is free to use and distribute. Have you
ever
used this utility? Also, have you used the Find & Replace utility? This
might make a good article for an upcoming issue of Smart Access: A
comparison
of Find and Replace Utilities, by Doug Steele.
