Replace Vista RC2 with XP

Good Morning
I have installed Vista RC2 on an IBM T60p. Unfortunately Lenovo is not
quite ready yet and I need to remove Vista and reinstall XP. I have been
unable to do so because:

1) Vista has removed the ability access the factory partition (ThinkVantage
key)
2) Putting an XP Pro install disk in after a Vista boot brings up the option
screen but the Install option is not available
3) Booting from the XP Pro DVD does not work because the hard drive is not
recognized.

Any help offered will be appreciated

So far the only suggestions I have seen are to contact the help desk of your
computer. I haven't seen anyone post back a general solution. Maybe someone
who has time to read all the posts has seen one.

If you didn't remove the recovery partition this utility may be able to
repair ThinkVantage

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-54483

If that doesn't work your next option is to use the set of recovery DVDs or
CDs you made when you first got the computer. If you didn't do this you may
be able to download drivers for the hard drive controller card and use the
F6 option to add drivers during the XP install. If all the above fail then
contacting Lenovo for a set of recovery media is the only option left.

Thank you for the response Kerry
I had already tried that utility. It seems to erase the partition table,
but does leave the hidden partition in place. Unfortunately after running it
neither the F11 nor the ThinkVantage keys were operational.

Then it looks like you'll have to use one of the other options. Did you
create the recovery media set when you first got the computer? Have you
looked for drivers for the hard drive controller? One other very slim
possibilty is to use a partition editor to unhide the factory patition, mark
it as active, then see if the computer will boot from it.
