Replace numbers on x-axis of scatter chart with text eg 1 - one

Thanks Andy,
What I want to do is replace numbers with categories on the x-axis. I'll
see if I can use the approach that you describe for changing categories on
the y-axis.

I figure you have solved the problem by now, but I'm posting just in case if anyone stumbles along this thread in the future. This is for Microsoft Excel 2007.

1. Change chart type to "Line with markers".
2. Right-click on your series in the chart and "Format data series".
3. Marker options: Built-in
4. Marker fill: Automatic
5. Line color: No line
6. Marker line color: Automatic

This will eliminate the line, but keep the markers like a scatterplot. The axes will retain the text labels so you don't have to manually draw a figure. Hope this helps.
