Replace laptop hard drive

I want to replace my laptop HD with a larger one. I want to copy my current
drive to the new one, so I don't have to reinstall everything. Can I do this
with a USB external? How?
Thanks.

Yes, you can do it with a usb external drive in almost all cases. You
will need some kind of drive image or drive copy software such as Drive
Image, Ghost or True Image.
