- In time I have ghosted/mirrored my hard disk from the orignal 120gb to 300Gb.
- I initially install Windows XP Pro (with no service packs)
- I have continually updated my windows and it is "current" with all patches
and service packs on board (including Service Pack 2).
- I have recently had problems with windows and after doing some reading
decided it was time to use my original Windows XP disks and repair the
Windows installation. (My disk contains XP which is pre any service packs)
- I have done this and have destroyed all the information upon my hard disk,
because I believe the Repair Windows option using the "older" Windows XP does
not cater a large hard disk which service pack 2 allowed for.
I can not boot and only approx 150Gb of the hard disk is identified.
Is there a patch/fix I can load to recover my Hard disk?
Should we be aware that all versions of XP prior to service pack 2 will not
work upon a hard disk that is 300Gb or greater and can not be used to repair
an installation?
Do I have to purchase another copy of Windows XP (including service pack 2)
and start a full installation?
This has cost me hours/days of frustration!!
