How do I repair an invalid boot.ini?

My system boots ok but this error is preventing me from
installing recover console as a start up option which I
need in order to reinstall XP so that I can repair MSI

A typical BOOT.INI file for a single IDE hard disk system, or even a
multiple disk system as long as XP is installed on the first physical
partition of the first physical disk looks like this:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect


You can access the BOOT.INI file by going to Control Panel, System,
Advanced, Startup and Recovery. In the System Startup section, click the
Edit button.
