repair install on XP home

L

Lance Ivey

I am trying to re-install XP home (upgrade version) after
changing the hardeare of my orginal system. I upgraded
the M/B, processor and HDD. It hangs after the first
reboot and hangs immediately after restarting setup on a
reboot.
Anyone have any ideas?

In Win2000 and NT, the OS would "build" or install itself
according to what type of processor the system had, in
order to maximize performance. I would assume that XP
does the same (though I am not positive). If I was in
your situation, and I was not at risk of losing any
personal data (files etc.), I would repartition and
reformat the drive, and then reinstall XP from scratch.
