Repair install issues..Upgrade ?

I just began what I wanted to be a repair install from an XP pro disk that
was slipstreamed with SP2.
I inserted the disk and it autoran.

My Options were..
Install windows XP (which I chose, thinking I would find a "repair" option,
I did not.)
Learn more about setup process
Install optional windows components
Perform additional tasks
Check system compatibility

What I found was a dialog box that offered me either "Upgrade" (which would
preserve old files)or " New Installation"

My instinct was to go with the upgrade, but I wondered if set-up detects
anything...
I used autostreamer to create a new XP pro disk from my original and the SP2
file downloaded from MS, and wonder about the term "upgrade"...because my
current system is running XP with all the current updates, does "upgrade"
actually mean repair in this instance...is itjust a generic term for repair?

It really makes not difference as all my data is backed up, but I would
rather not go through reloading everything if I don't have to.

Thanks

Hi,

In Windows XP this option is called in-place upgrade (if you run the
installation from within the operating system) or repair (if you boot the
computer from Windows XP CD). So, if you want to reinstall Windows XP just
choose Upgrade. Here is an article describing your issue:

Thank you, that clarifies the issue.
