Renote Desktop error

Rick

I am trying to get remote desktop (mstsc.exe) to run on a
W2K professional machine which comes back with "server
not available" or "there may be a network error". All the
other machines in the building (Win98) can remote out to
the server (W2K Server) with no problems. I have tried
several versions of mstsc.exe, with no success. Is there
a service that should be running to support this? The
computer can download/upload email to the same remote
server(running Exchange) with no problems. Any
suggestions would be helpful.

Have you tried making the Terminal Server Client disks
from the server, and installing that on the client?

W2K PRO does not support remote desktop, you will need W2K server, XP PRO,
or Windows 2003 Server.

I had problems with the mstsc.exe TS client. Instead of using that, download
the Remote Desktop Protocol using the link below and install on your
machine. I works much better. One of the benefits is that you can setup your
session in full screen mode and then minimize the TS session so you are at
your loca PC desktop. The drawback is that copy/paste from the TS session to
your local machine will disappear forcing you to use a 3rd party tool like
TSDropCopy.
