I have an XP Home-based PC; OEM so no disc. I wrongly loaded XP Pro from a
friend but I now wish to revert to XP Home; it's a coscience thing. How do I
do it LEGALLY?

You would have to do a clean install with a legal copy of XP Home. There
is no other path from Pro to Home since that is considered a downgrade.
Understand that a clean install will remove all programs/data on the
disk so be sure to back up your data first.

First of all, note that there's no way to downgrade from Professional to
Home. You'll have to back up your data, clean install Home, then restore
your data.

As far as how to do it without an XP CD, you'll have to contact your OEM. If
they didn't supply a CD, there should be a hidden recovery partition, but
they will have to tell you how to use it.

You can't do a thing, legally or otherwise, without first having an
installation CD. You'll need to contact the computer's manufacturer to
see about obtaining an installation CD.

The only way to change from WinXP Pro to WinXP Home is to format the
drive and start over. There is no supported downgrade path or technique.

Simply boot from the WinXP Home installation CD. You'll be
offered the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as
part of the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the
order of boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
