Renaming Folder

G

Gianni

I downloaded a folder containing examples.
I tried renaming it, but it wouldn't let me.
I thought it might be the read-only
attribute
that was checked and unchecked it.
I then tried renaming the folder again,
but it still wouldn't let me. I looked at
the read-only attribute and it was
rechecked.

Is there a way to do what I want?

Folders themselves will always show a read-only; but it doesn't affect
the files IN that folder. Only a file's own read-only attribute affects
the file itself. Strange, I know.

As for renaming, it's probably been designated a system file by the
presende of a desktop.ini or other .ini file within it. Deleting that
and Restarting will probably let you delete it, BUT whatever program it
goes with will no longer be able to find it!

There are other possbilities but those are the most likely ones.

I had tried to rename the file within
Window Explorer,
but that did not work. I checked out
..ini files, but came
up with nothing.

I then tried changing the read-only from
the Desktop
and then renaming the file from the
Desktop and
that worked.

I don't understand it, but I finally
achieved what I
wanted. Thanks for responding.
