Renaming Files: Can I Prevent Explorer From Moving to Where the Renamed File Is?

Hello.

I'm using Vista Home Premium and have a question about renaming files.

When I rename a file, Explorer automatically adjusts the screen so
that I'm looking at the area where the rename filed is moved to.

I don't want this.

I want Vista Explorer to remain where I originally was. I don't want
Vista Explorer to shift the display to the area where the renamed file
is now.

Is it possible to configure Explorer to stay put?

(I'm not exactly sure how to word this question better.)

If there is a way to set up Explorer so that is doesn't move the
display to where the renamed file is, what is the procedure?

Thank you.

I don't know whether you can stop Explorer doing this. In case you can't: In
the alternative file manager XYplorer this behavior is optional. If you
uncheck the option "Resort list immediately after rename" it will not
happen.

I figured out a way of working around the problem.
Quite simple, actually.

When you are done renaming the file, before you close the editing box,
click a DIFFERENT file. The renamed file will be sent where it
belongs, but you will stay right where you were.

Problem solved.
