renamed photo files- do not write to CD correctly

When I burn my photos to a CD and then I go in to view
them on the CD to make sure it worked, the date of the
picture does not transfer over to the CD. I just spent
an hour inputting the date on all my pictures (253) and
then burned them to a new CD. Now, when I go to view
them, it used the same file name for over half of the
pictures. I am very frustrated!! Any help is greatly
appreciated!
