Removing sound files from Slide Transition 'Sound' drop-down list

I embedded a wav file by using 'other sound' in Slide Transition. It made the
presentation much too big to send as an email attchment, so I editied it to
half its size and renamed it and embedded the smaller file with a changed
name. also via Slide Transition.
However, the PowerPoint presentation is even bigger now as it seems to still
be carrying both files, showing them both in the drop-down list, though only
using the smaller one.
How can I remove the bigger file from the drop-down list?

Fisrt make sure that "enable fast save" is OFF iin tools>options>save then
resave.

If that doesnt help save as > a web page .html (NOT mhtml) and in the folder
look for wav sounds and delete uneeded ones before opening powerpoint > File

First change the action setting to No Sound and save the file. Then set it
to your new sound file. Also make sure you aren't using the sound anywhere
else, you'll have to do the same steps for each instance.

Thanks John, sorry for the late reply but I asked for email notification of
posts and it didn't happen.

I followed your tips but still have the two files in the drop-down in the
Transition box. Maybe it's because I'm still on PowerPoint 2000?

Thanks, Glenna, I tried what you suggest but still have both files in the
drop-down box and the presentation is still 7.41MB.
I have worked around it by re-creating the presentation from scratch and
only bringing the small wav file in to the Transition box. This got the
presentation down to 3.15MB, so most of my addressees should be able to
handle it. But I would still like to know how to edit that drop-down menu and
any more suggestions would be very welcome..
