removing programs from taskbar

On the bottom of the screen several program icons appear
after different installations. I want to know how to
remove these icons, while keeping these programs on my
computer. Thank you. I appreciate your help.

Some Apps will have an option to prevent the auto start, others wont
You can use msconfig, copied from a winxp install or download here

or you can delve in the registry.

detailed explanation of why you want to remove exactly
which icons might help.
