Removing network location from notification area

I know the procedure for eliminating icons in general from
the notification area. However, whenever I set the icon for
a particular network location to "Never Show," it appears
again anyway the next time I log into my network. How can I
keep this icon hidden all the time? (I wish to do so
because I use IBM's network connection utility, which also
operates through the notification area. I'm tired of seeing
*two* pop up balloons telling me I'm connected.)

Are you hiding it in Start Menu properties?
To stop it go into control panel--Network
Right click the network adapter you want and select properties.
Uncheck the box "Show icon in notification area whgen connected.

Thanks Mark, I'm embarassed to say had never noticed that
option. It does seem funny, though, that checking "Never
Show" in the "Customize Notifications" box doesn't affect
this setting automatically.
