removing left-over WGA install directory.

WinXP Pro SP3.

As far as I can tell Windows WGA update KB905474 created a
directory named e144a9d2b8fa5b54af68, with a subdirectory
"update." It dropped these on to a hang-on usb drive, not on
the main hhd/root directory. I get an access denied warning
when I attempt to access "update" and therefore, "update"
nor e144a9 etc can be deleted.
I plugged the hang-on drive to another computer but I still
could not delete this.
Any idea on how to get rid of this?

You have to seize ownership of the folder. Click Start / Help, then search
for help on "Ownership" to see how it' done. Alternatively you could
reformat your USB drive. Drastic but effective . . .

Thanks for the response.
Could not take ownership. Tried that multiple times before
posting here.
I DID succeed in removing this directory by booting in safe
mode as administrator. So that's the answer.

Then you should have said so in your post!
