Removing emails from outlook inbox to deleted folder

After deleting emails in my inbox, they seem to stay there. They don't move
to the deleted files folder. I have an IMAP account, does that make a
difference? Help!!!!

yes, it makes a big difference. They need purged from the folder, which also
purges them from the server. use a view that hides deleted items and purge
every now and again, or if using outlook 2007, set it to purge on folder
change.
