Removing automatic prefix "Shortcut to ..." part when creating shortcuts ?

I don't like the hint "Shortcut to ..." when I create a shortcut.
A small white arrow in the lower left corner is sufficient for me.

On a Win2000 system I can turn off the automatic generation of
the prefix "Shortcut to .." by entering the following two Registry keys:

[HKEY_USERS\.Default\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
"link"=hex:00,00,00,00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
"Link"=hex:00,00,00,00

This doesn't work under WinXP. How do I turn it off under WinXP?

TweakUI

PowerToys for Microsoft Windows XP:

Under Explorer, first remove the Shortcut to by unticking it and clicking
apply. Then, next option below it if you expand the Explorer options, you'll
see an option to remove the arrow as well though a lot of people recommend
keeping that so that you don't delete stuff you might want to keep. That
makes sense but, well, I personally don't use the arrow.

Hi Peter,

The easiest way to do this in XP and it also saves you delving into the
registry is to download Microsoft's TweakUI Powertoy, this has many tweaks
you can apply including the way shortcuts are display and titled.

Once you have download and installed TweakUI, double click explorer to
expand the tree and then click on shortcut, you can now set how you want your
shortcuts displayed.

Hope that helps ?
