Removing a driver for a linksys wireless adapter from Windows 2000

I am unable to delete a defective driver for a linksys
wireless adapter so that I can install a new one.
Add/Remove programs doesn't work. Any other ways to delete
this driver? I am told it is part of the Windows registery.

And the source of your infomation did not say what and where? Was this
Linksys support? They *should* know.

To display hidden devices, non-Plug and Play devices, and devices not
attached to the computer (commonly known as "ghosted" or "phantom" devices)
From a command prompt;

set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1

then also from the command prompt;
start devmgmt.msc

Then, use Device Manager to remove or reconfigure these devices. Do not edit
the registry.

Why not simply update it with the correct one?
