removed a memory module

Ok,
I know this is going to be the dumbest thing you've ever heard, but
here goes. I was trying to answer some questions about the memory in my
computer and couldn't turn off computer because I was online speaking to
someone.
So, I opened the tower and removed one of the memory modules to get
info from it, then replaced it. Which did not do anyting, but then I
removed one of the other modules that are put in there by dell that you
replace when you want to add more memory, and I didn't get it set in
there right so I was going to remove and put in again and accidentally
removed the real memory module while the other one was not in place
right and my computer shut down.
Now when I try to turn it on the lights come on and all I hear is a
ticking sound, like a slow ticking clock. Does anyone have ant idea
what I have screwed up? Did I fry the motherboard or what? Please
help....

In a hurry and screwed up....
Sonya B.

Ever hear of electrical shocks,or electricution......
First, power off pc (unplug),to install ram memory, you must have the pc on its
side, with the motherboard side to the floor.Once done, simply open the memory
clips to full open, slide the memory card in the socket till the clip
closes,the clip
needs to be closed as the memory is seated (one complete action)...Youre
board
has either 2 or 4 memory modules. Also, read the owners manual,it give or
display
the same..
