An alternate fix is to download a program from - Frameworkx.com
Vista Shortcut Manager\FxVisor
This will allow you to remove - shortcut - from the name and resize or
remove the shortcut arrow.

Good luck,

This procedure works for XP or Vista:
Open RegEdit
Locate the registry key:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer]
Add a new "Binary Value" key in the right-hand pane.
The name of the key should be: Link
Modify the value: 00 00 00 00
(Do not type in any spaces)
