Remove Sender's stationery when replying

I get messages from someone using some weird stationery with a funky
background and purple Comic Sans typeface. I want to use my standard font
when replying, and I would like to clear the background if possible. I have
10pt Tahoma set up as my "Reply" font, but Outlook ignores this if the
original message uses the sender's stationery. It's a PITA to type my
response and then have to highlight my reply and change the font, size, and
color every where I typed. Is there a way to cause Outlook to use my Reply
font regardless of the sender's stationery? Apparently OE can do this, but I
can't find how to do this in Outlook 2003.

Oh, and converting to Plain Text and back to HTML isn't an option, since it
loses the markup of the original message (bullets, indents, italics, etc.)
