remove programs from the "Open With" list

I would like to remove certain program entries from the "Open With" list
in the right-click context menu.

Any help with a registry fix is greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Marty

You can delete the entries from the 'OpenWithList' key

for the particular extension under

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts

Thanks for your reply.

I went to that key, there are no entries under OpenWithList only
(Default) REG_SZ. There are no programs listed there, though in the
right-click menu there are 5 or 6 listed under "Open With".

My machine is Vista, the registry edit for "Open With" menu is the same
method used on XP?

Cheers,
Marty

Pretty similar to XP, by the looks of it, yes.

Thank you!
