I am trying to format my 1.2g drive which was loaded with Linux 5.X
now
that I tried to format after deleating all partitions with fdisk & XP
utilites and started install it Linux still boots. Then I tried to
partition 1.2g with fdisk and also with XP utilites and still Linux
boots.

How do I get rid of Linux so I can install XP

Certainly your drive must be bigger than 1.2GB? There is no need to
fiddle about with antiquated MS-DOS utilities like fdisk to partition
your drive when you install Windows XP, you can do all your partitioning
work when you boot with the Windows XP cd. To dislodge the Linux loader
boot to the Recovery Console and use the FIXMBR command.

You might as well purchase a new hard drive as your current
1.2GB hard drive is way too small to install Windows XP.
