Remove grid lines as default

D

David

Hi,
I hate to ask again, but I had this all set up with by default - no Grid
lines, but after a crash, well I have even lost the email with the info.
Would someone please help out again and tell me how to remove grid lines as
default, ie no grid lines in new spreadsheets.
Many thanks
David

You can create a new default template, with your preferred settings:

1. Open a new workbook.
2. Select all the sheets, and choose Tools>Options
3. On the View tab, remove the check mark for Gridlines, click OK
4. Ungroup the sheets
5. Choose Save As
6. From the Save As Type dropdown, choose Template (*.xlt)
7. Name the File "Book.xlt"
8. Save it in the XLStart folder
(may be in Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office or
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel)

When you click the New button on the toolbar, the new workbook will be
based on this template.

If you want new sheets to be inserted with the same paper size, you can
create a sheet template.

Follow the steps for creating a workbook template, but:
-- create a workbook with only one sheet
-- save as Sheet.xlt

Debra,
Thankyou for your instructions. This only partly works, that is if I select
that particular template.
This is a mod that can be made to the registry that does the trick, this is
what I am after.

Who is a registry hacker out there that can help me out.
Jim Pickering are you online please?

David
