Remove Domain Controller

E

EJS77

I have a server that was the original DC for my 2000 domain. I want to
decommision it, but what do I need to do to remove it cleanly from the
domain? I do have other DCs in the domain.

Hello EJS77,

Run dcdiag, netdiag and replmon to check for errors before removing the DC.

If not on another machine you need additional DNS/DHCP server. The other
DC's must take over the 5 FSMO roles and also the Global catalog. If needed
clients has to be reconfigured if that DC was set for DNS on the clients NIC.

Best regards
