remove an unwanted FAT partition accidently installed onto NTFS drive

I have an unwanted 31MB FAT Healthy(EISA Configuration) partition
which is being recognized as Hard Disk "E" on the end of my 74.5 GB
NTFS (healthy active) Hard Drive "C".

How do I remove the unwanted FAT partition and all of its associated
files from the end of my "C" drive without affecting the "C" drive,
keeping all files and folders in the "C" drive intact.

That is likely a diagnostic partition installed by your PC manufacturer.
Leave it be.

Dell said they did not install it. The partition contains files from
iomega. I had installed a jazz drive and iomega backup - could the
parition have been created then? How do I remove it? I no longer use
the jazz drive or backup. Disk management removed the files but not
the partirion.

Disregard the last message - Dell now says it's their partition.

The question now, is why it the small partition recently started
showing up in My Computer as a separate Drive with a drive letter?
How can I keep it 'hidden' and not recognized as a separate fixed
drive with a drive letter?

I have had problems as a result of this - for example initially when I
purchased my computer Windows XP System Restore had no problem setting
restore points. But recently, since the 'appearance' of the
mysterious "E" drive, restore points were not created because the
computer looked at the "E" drive which did not have enough free space
to create a restore point (I have fixed that problem by allowing
System Restore only to use the "C" drive).

I would feel comfortable with only a "C" drive, and let the Dell
diagnostic partition remain hidden!

The only way you can create, delete, resize or merge existing partitions,
and not harm your existing Windows installation, is to purchase and use
a third-party partitioning program such as Partition Magic 8.
