Removal of braviax.exe

I inadvertantly opened an email which has left me with an icon on the toolbar
which constantly pops up telling me my computer is infected. Windows OneCare
appears to have removed the infection (or tells me it has detected and
removed it) but the icon is still there and I get constant pop-ups. The
thing seems to be lodged as Braviax.exe in C;\windows\system32 and is 9kb.
I've tried deleting it but it won't move. Has anyone any idea how I can get
rid of the thing? It's in XP, by the way (not Vista).

Thanks Rey,

That fixed it. Don't know whether you can help me with another problem. I
can't remove DVD43 (a DVD code converter) from "Add or remove programs". It
keeps telling me that DVD43 is running, and that I must close it, but I can't
find how to. I want to load DVD Fab 5 in its place, but I have to remove
DVD43 first. Any clues?

Try this:
Open Task Manager, look for dvd43.exe and end the process. Then uninstall
the program via the Add or Remove Programs in the control Panel.

Or:
Start > Run, type msconfig > OK. In the system configuration Utility window
click on the Startup tab. Under Startup items look for DVD43 and click to
uncheck its box on the left. Click Apply button > OK. Restart the computer.
After reboot remove the the program via Add or Remove Program in the Control
Panel

BINGO! Using MSconfig fixed it in a flash. I am extremely grateful. Now I'll
see if I can get DVDfab5 to work, but I'll leave that until tomorrow. Many
thanks again.
