Remote to Local Publishing Problem

Hello- I'm hoping that someone out there can help me!

I work on a website with one other person using Frontpage 2003. We each use
our own computers and we don't work on the site at the same time. We take
turns and always do a "remote to local" for the website before we make any
changes to make sure that we're in sync.

Today I went to download the site remote to local and I received an error
message that said something like "Server Error: The file "file.htm" has been
modified by "user" on 02 January 2008" where file.htm is a page that I know
my coworker has modified (which is why I'm downloading the site), but the
"user" is actually my own computer's name. It's like the server is somehow
seeing my coworkers changes but attributing them to my own computer.

When I click ok (because that's my only option), the site stops publishing.

I have NO idea what caused this or where to even begin looking for an
answer. I did a quick search for the problem and found some people who had
this issue with the thumbs.db file, but that's not my problem. FrontPage is
tripping up on pages that have been only modified by my coworker.

any help that someone can provide would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks in advance-
erin

If you publish from remote to local your local will see all changed files a your changes (no matter who changed the files)

Thanks for your response, Stefan!

Do you have any idea what might be causing the server error then? We've been
working like this for the psat 3 years (both working on the site) and this is
the first time that I've received this error and not been able to publish.
I'm not sure what has changed, or where I should even start to look for the
problem.
