remote shutdown

i have 2 computers on a wireless network. i want to be able to shutdown one
of then. i have read the KB but i have 2 problems.

the first is that when i go in to the computer managment and access the
other computer there. i open the properities and the try to slect Advanced
but get an error win 32: the RPC server is unavailable. how can that be
fixed.

the second is when i save the policies on the computer that i am trying to
shutdown. i select the remote shutdown policy and the find the computer that
i would like to access this choose. i select the MShome and then the
computer. after i ok everything it says that unable to save to local policy.
i am not able to select the account that i need to use in the command string
i.e MSHOME/RoomB/(account name). that does not allow me to selcet an account.

thanks

RPC error problems are usually mean lack of network access or name
resolution problems. Try accessing the computer by it's IP address instead
of name to see if that makes a difference and disable the Windows Firewall
or other software firewall [assuming that does not put the computer at risk]
on it temporarily to see if that makes a difference or not. If the remote
computer is XP Pro you can also use Remote Desktop to logon to and shutdown
the remote computer. The command line tool shutdown with the \\computername
switch can also be used to shutdown remote computers assuming you have
necessary network access, are using an account that is an administrator on
the remote computer, and have the user right for force shutdown from a
remote system which administrators would have by default.

thanks for the reply. i think that the remote access would be better then
what i first tried. i can get it to the log in screen and it askes for the
accounr name. i enter that and then it says: unable to log on due to account
restructions. i think it is becuase when i try changing the policy access it
says that it can not save to data base. that is a work in progress. however
it was suggested that i set a password on the account i am trying to access
and that might work. as well as i have remote checked on both and also to
allow remote access. any help would be great.
