Remote Media Center Keyboard interacts badly with Television

When I attempt to use my "Remote Keyboard for Windows XP Media Center
Edition," the IR signal from the keyboard also seems to drive my TV, which
goes completely crazy. I have been unable to find any documentation on this
issue or any workarounds. The keyboard sits unused and useless on a closet
shelf.

Can anyone on this forum help me with this?

Thanks!

Obvious and effective; but with unacceptable outcomes.
I still need direct IR control over my TV.

Additionally, among the features listed for the keyboard is the ability to
directly control the TV. These features would be lost if I defeated the
ability of the TV to receive IR commands.

I suspect then you will need to talk to tech support for your TV and
also the keyboard vendor tech. That will be the only way to get then to
sync up if that is your aim.

If the keyboard can control a TV directly then the keyboard must be
programmable for the different IR signals used by various TV brands (unless
the use of an IR blaster from the PC is implied). Somewhere in the KB
documentation there should be a list of TV models and the appropriate code
settings for the keyboard. Progam the KB for your specific TV model, or if
that isn't possible try setting it to something completely different so that
the codes that the KB sends aren't recognised as anything valid by the TV.
