Remote Desktop Web Connection Fails

Server runs Windows XP MCE with Internet Explorer 7, Defender and LiveOne
Care and is connected to a modem/router. Other computers on internal network
can connect either using Remote Desktop directly or with local IP address
entered in Explorer, which pulls up Remote Desktop Web Connection screen.

However, computers on Internet cannot get through. Default web page is
altered in Internet Information Services to external IP address and TCP port
is set (to e.g. birthday). Live OneCare Firewall ports have been set to
allow port 3389 and birthday. Advanced settings have been set to allow all
computers (even those on the Internet) access. Router has been configured to
allow same ports.

Any attempt to connect causes the router ligts to flash, but the remote
computer gets a 'page cannot be displayed' error.

Would appreciate any help anyone can give.

Make sure that the users from the internet are specifying the port used when
they try to connect as in http://servermame.com:1234 if port 1234 was used
for the website and to also try specifying the public IP address of the
server instead of name. It may also help to check your firewall logs, IIS
logs, and security logs on the IIS server for any helpful information that
may provide a clue. The link below may help.
