Remote Desktop Connection Auto Disconnects

M

Michael Santangelo

As soon as I login to Remote Desktop Web Connection from
my 2000 machine at work, the connection closes out and
returns me to the remote desktop web connection page.

This has only happened since I rebuilt my computer this
afternoon, I'm not sure why it's happening.

This is a complete fresh installation of Windows XP Pro.

So I do this..

1)http://msantang.resnet.rutgers.edu:8088/tsweb (you don't
be able to reach it unless you're on the Rutgers network)
2)Type in my ip address
3)Click connect
4) It shows the "Loading your account settings" dialog
box, but soon after it closes, the remote client
disconnects (with no visible error message) and returns me
to the RDWC page.

Ideas?

Hi Michael,

I noticed this post and it sounds like an issue that was caused by the
latest nVidia drivers being installed. You indicated the Windows XP machine
was just rebuilt and now it has this problem.

Does the workstation have an nVidia video card and did you install the
latest set of drivers from www.nvidia.com? If yes, try stopping the "NVIDIA
Display Driver Service" in services.msc. If this is your issue you should
be able to stay logged in once this service is turned off and the only
workaround for now is to Disable this service. If this helps please let me
know so we can track this issue.

NOTE: If this is not your issue please create a new post to this newsgroup
as I will not be much assistance in the area of tsweb client.

I had the same issue when I upgraded my Nvidia drivers to the latest 54.64
version. I would get connected and then it would immediately log me off. I
think it is wierd that a video driver would cause this, but when I went back
to the previous version the problem went away.
I see the latest driver has all kinds of extra junk in it like popup
blockers, etc.

Nvidia sucks and you rock!

I caught some pretty intense heat this week when my IT Director could
not remote into my PC. I've been searching for the last three days for
a solution and this fixed it instantly!

to clarify, I am running win 2k3 ent fully patched.

Thanks again
