Remote desktop casues display settings on host to go bad

Hi -

When my home computer is the host of a Win XP Pro to Win XP Pro Remote
desktop session, the next time the computer is used -- while
physically at the computer -- the display settings are all screwed up.

The host computer:
P4 2.8 800
ATI Radeon Pro 9800
512
etc...

The host computer would have display settings of something like: 1280
by 1024, True Color, 90 Hertz.

Once a remote desktop session has taken place the settings are
reverted back to something like: 800 by 600, 256 colors, 60 hertz.

I have used remote desktop with other computers as the host and have
not had this problem. Which obviously leads me to believe that it has
something to do with my ATI drivers (which are up to date). But I
haven't been able to find anything on the web or newsgroups that
describes this and what some options might be.

Was wondering if one here has seen this?

There was talk about a year and a half ago on this topic and
eventually the user found a version of a display driver that
eventually solved the problem.. I don't remember enough specifics to
locate the post on google, though...
