Remote Dekstop - Error Message ? What does it mean

I am trying to connect to my XP pro desktop behind a Microsoft MN700 (MN 820
kit) wireless router.

I am able to ping my IP address and I have enabled port forwarding on 3389.

I get this error:
The Client could not connect to the remote computer.
Remote connections might not be enabled or the computer might be too
busy to accept new connection. It is also possible that network problems
are preventing your connection.
Please try connecting again later. If the problem continues to occur,
contact your administrator.

Remote Desktop sharing has been enabled on the host.
The remote XP Pro machine is idle. Nothing is running on it, I just rebooted
before I left for the office.

What should I check next ?

Try running the following command:

"telnet serveripaddress 3389".

What happens?

If you get a timeout error, you have a problem with your port
forwarding or firewall issues.

If you get a screen that quickly clears, then you have connectivity
and the issue is elsewhere...

90% of the time it is the first issue.

Thanks Jeffrey ,
I get "Connecting to server IP address" and then it
clears. So that works OK

I am at a loss of what else to do, maybe there are some services that should
be running on the box. Any ideas what services are all required ?

With the behavior you describe, it sounds like there is a problem with
the client....

Try re-installing the client to see if it helps:

I just recently reinstalled it and the problem I am getting is using the
latest download from MS.

I am having the same problem with two separate PC's, one on my local network
as well as my office laptop, which leads me to think that it the host that
hold the solution to the problem.

What makes it weird is that you are getting the tale-tale sign of
connection when you do the Telnet command....

The only other suggestions I can think of is to make absolutely sure
that you are using a valid name or IP address in the client software.
