Remote Assistance Not Connecting

I am trying to help my dad with his computer. He sends me a Remote
Assistance request via email and when I open it the program loads but says
it cannot connect. Any ideas?
We are both running Microsoft Vista Home Premium.

Hi
Depending on the setting on both sides it has to be configured and prepared
to work through the Internet.

These page has a lot of links concerning this topic (it written for XP but
the general principles are the same),

I checked the setting. Both computers are configured to allow remote
connections under Control Panel> System & Maintenance > System > System
Properties > Remote and both are allowing Remote Assistance through the
Microsoft Firewall. Oddly enough I can connect to his XP through the same
internet connection (he has a router and both computers are hooked up to the
router, the XP is wireless the Vista is wired) with no problem. I also had
him try and connect to me and that doesn't work either.
