Remote Access Manager and some software missing when i booted up today

This this morning I turned my Maxdata computer on and half the progra
icons were missing from desktop. I have Windows XP and Service Pack
installed. I tried to open a Word file and a dialog box said inser
disk to install. I already had a legit copy of Office installed but i
has disappeared. Photoshop and a lot of other programs are missin
although others such as iTunes are OK.

Can anyone suggest a cause.. computer virus? I gave Avira and Spywar
S&D on my computer and reg update every few days.

The most worrying thing is that when I look at the startup system tra
and go to accessibility I only have the option
Magnifier,Narrator,Onscreen Keyboard and Utility Manager. There used t
be an item called something like Remote Access Manager that I could us
to access my computer at work and this has gone too.

I really need this for my work - any suggestions or advice would b
appreciated

I think that you may have lost your user profile and that Windows may
have logged you on to a new profile. Take a look at your profile
folders to see if a new profile was created. You can see which profile
folder you are using with the SET USERPROFILE command at the Command
Prompt, or you can enter %userprofile% in the Start Menu Run box and
look at the name of the folder that is opened.
