Remarkable resembalence to CounterSpy

Please forgive me if this has already been answered in a
previous post as I have not had time to look through all
postings yet.

I recently downloaded and installed the MS AntiSpyware
program was was amazed to see that it is incredibly
similar to Sunbelt-Software's Counterspy product.
Everything from the installation, to the "Spyware
Community", to the interface, settings, and alert screens.

I thought that Microsoft purchased Giant Software? Was
the Giant Software product also similar to the CounterSpy
Product? I never saw the Giant product so I don't know if
this is something that Microsoft is not even aware of.

I guess it is not uncommon for 2 applications to have
similar interfaces, it just seems that these two
applications are so incredibly similar that it looks like
one was "borrowed" from the other.

Hi Jim,
I'm not drop dead sure of the bloodlines, but here is my understanding:
Counter Spy/SunBelt had bits licensed from Giant, and Giant became MS
AntiSpyware.
Thus, I'm not surprised if there are a few matching freckles included.
