reinstalling xp

Chris

My computer is having major problems and I just want to
start with a clean slate and reinstall xp and all the
software. What steps do I need to take? I have the XP
reinstallation cd, but when ever i try to run it and it
comes to the screen where it says to choose a place to
save it, the only place is my c: drive but that has the
current operating system on it (the one I want to
reinstall). When I try to save on it it says the computer
might not work right because it will have two operating
systems installed. When I try to delete this partition it
says it contains temporary files that are necessary to
setup. So what do I need to do? The only cd's I have are
the xp reinstallation cd and software cd's.

Greetings --

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered
the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of
the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of
boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Just boot from the Windows XP CD and follow the prompts for a

Chris, for you started to reinstal then you must rename your old version of winnt (perhaps winntOLD), And you started with rebooting from CD. On one moment it ask of you will deleted the old version, you give "YES" and everything goes.
Then you have a new version on your C-drive.
Good luck
