Reinstalling without CD Reader

I recently had to reinstall windows XP after a virus, and went to reinstall
office 2000 a couple of days later and found my CD Reader is no longer
working. Can I down load a copy and enter my product key and if so where? I
tried the Microsoft help page and what a waste of time, and yes I know it is
old :(

It isn't possible to download any version of Office except the trial of the
current version (2007).

Assuming you still have the disk of Office 2000 and the product key that
came with it, you can use one of these workarounds:

- If your PC is on a network, use the drive in another PC to read the disk,
and map a network drive on your PC to that location.

- If you aren't on a network, borrow the use of another PC to copy the
contents of the CD to a USB stick. Plug the stick into your PC and install
from there.

- Buy or borrow an external CD or DVD drive and plug it into your PC
(usually via USB).
