reinstalling windows

I want to start from scratch with my XP PC, I have the manufacturer's restore
CD with Windows and the basic drivers and software on but I'm unsure of how
to begin. I want to ensure that everything that is currently on the PC is
wiped as I have a few adware/virus problems I can't seem to get rid of.

You put the CD into the computer and it should boot from it then follow the
steps to restore the machine. If it fails to boot it may mean the BIOS is
not set to boot from
CD, so just go into BIOS and set it to boot from C.D..
