Reinstalling Windows XP Pro - Problem

Brian Curtis

I have had a problem with my windows XP Pro since I ran a virus scan using
'Stinger.exe' and accidentally deleting a lot of infected files instead of
repairing them .... it looks like some of the deleted files were part of
Windows XP .. so I wanted to reinstall it.

Anyway, the pc won't let me because it says the version on the computer is
newer than the one on the CD (I downloaded all the updates and SP2) ....
then it tells me to reboot from the CD - - - but I don't know how ... Can't
refer to documentation because I bought the pc YEARS ago and am not in the
habit of keeping stuff where I can find it :(

I get the rundll message too - but i already read the messages about that.
My machine is viciously slow to load progs and I am certaiin it is because
of the missing XP files .. but I'm a total non-techie so I could be wrong.

Any suggestions??

on start up I get the following messages which might (or might not) be
pertinent:

1. CMESys.exe GStore.dll not found. 'Reinstalling the application might
help'

2. RUNdll - Error loading c:/windows/npoce98.dll - specified module could
not be found

p.s. found out last night how to change the boot up to CD - haven't tried it
yet though.

At startup I get a message from CMESys.exe saying that ' GIocl.dll
application not found, reinstalling the application might help' how can I fix
this????

You would help yourself by using a more appropriate subject line in your
post, for expample

"CMESys.exe startup problem with GIocl.dll"

Some gurus scan for subjects like this just because they are good at solving
those problems, but they can't be bothered to open messages with titles like
"Help me"!
