reinstalling Win98 has wiped my .dbx files!? Why? And can I get them back?

Hi.

I reinstalled Win 98, then went to Outlook Express to see my email.

All my custom folders were missing and the Inbox, Sent Items etc are empty.

What has happened, and how do I get the mail back?

I've searched for .dbx but only the Inbox, Outbox, Sent Items, Folders
..dbx's are there, and they are showing as 75k.

Sigh....gutted here, so any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Nath.

if you've reinstalled your PC you probably formatted your system drive as
well? If this was the location of your dbx files (default) then they are
gone as well. (I believe that even without a complete format of your drive a
reinstall will lead to loss of that folder as it is a system folder and will
be recreated during the install and create a new user folder. Don't hang me
if I'm wrong on the last thing; Windows 98 was a long time ago for me...).

Aways make backups of important data before you doing something drastic is a
hard lesson you learned here, sorry :-S
