reinstall xp home if xp professional is installed

my computer crashed, I don't have the xp home discs, i am not sure I ever had
them, but I have the authentication code. Any way, my son--"expert"
installed the version that is on my daughters --that I bought--laptop, and it
is xp pro. It is way slower than it was, and I was thinking it is because
Idon't have the right version on my computer.

Can I reinstall the home version from an on line site, using my
authentication code?

If so, how??

Thanks

If your son did a upgrade install of WinXP Pro on top of WinXP Home
then you could have potential problems. If he performed a clean install of
WinXP Pro by formatting your
hard drive first ( wiping it clean ) then WinXP Pro should not be
any slower than Home.

Contact your computer Manufacturer regarding the XP home disks, and they
should send you a set for a nominal fee.
