After reformatting the C drive and reinstalling XP Do you have to call and
get a new authorization for it to work? This is going to be a reinstall on
the same computer that the original authorization was granted for. Thanks

Yes, you will need to activate but not register, either by internet or phone
call if prompted that your version has been activated too many times.
