What backup are you talking about. If you used the system restore disk
provided by the manufacturer or the one you may have created when you first
started using the computer, that only returns the computer to the
manufacturer's condition. If you mean a backup you created, use the program
that created the backup to restore. Otherwise, with the little information
you gave, we don't have any idea what backup you mean.

You retrieve the backup by using whatever program you used to create it.

It's very difficult to help you with so little information. Here are
several questions for you:

1. Why did you have to reinstall Windows?

2. Exactly how did you reinstall it?

3. What program did you use to create the backup?

4. Where did the backup program put the backup?

Bear in mind that if you put the backup on your C: drive and you did a
clean reinstallation of Windows onto that C: drive, the backup is
gone.

What is the disk that came with your computer ? You reinstalled the
system without a format ?

The backup is in what file where? How did you make this "backup"?

The best way to retrieve the backup is to read the instructions that came
with the computer and follow them to the letter. If you don't have a manual,
the E-Machines website probably has a downloadable .pdf of it. When you
launched the backup you probably need to redirect the destination to another
drive like a separate partition on the same drive, a second internal drive,
or a USB external hard drive. If you just let it default to the C: drive, the
backup was probably erased when the operating system was reinstalled.

What is the make, model, and model number of your PC? And in order to
make the thread easy to follow for you, me, and everyone else, please
reply to *my* post, not one of yours. :)

Probably what was backed up was your user profiles and system settings,
which were automatically restored with a new installation over top of the
old, and there is nothing you need to do further. Can you logon to the
computer? Is your previous user name logon the same?
