rehearsal timing for slides with music

Hi,
I'm trying to set timings for slide transitions with music in PP 2002.
Problem is that when I select Slide Show/Rehearse Timings, the slide show and
music start together fine, but clicking on the arrow button for next slide
stops the music. Can I manually sync the slide transitions to the music by
clicking for next slide while listening to the music continuously?

After further trial & error it seems my question is wrong, pls see the new
question "powerpoint & music" above.
